NanoAvionics is looking for an AOCS Engineer to join the AOCS Mission Analysis team who understands the impact of AOCS on successful satellite missions and knows how to accurately model the satellite dynamics to make our spacecrafts elegantly spin on the sky’s dance floor and follow pointing commands to achieve a successful mission. 

As AOCS Mission Analysis Engineer, you will:

  • Conducting mission analysis for satellite projects during the Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR) phases
  • Performing on-orbit commissioning activities for newly launched spacecraft and anomaly investigations during mission operations
  • Optimizing and tuning the Attitude determination and Control System (ADCS) performance to meet mission requirements through simulation tools and analysis of telemetry data.
  • Maintaining and improving the AOCS simulator plant to ensure accurate simulation of satellite behaviour
  • Providing technical support to systems engineers for new sales offers, including assessing the feasibility of proposed ADCS solutions, contributing to proposal writing, and participating in customer meetings to discuss technical details.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to the ADCS subsystem during spacecraft testing and operations.

We expect you to have:

  • Strong understanding of spacecraft dynamics and control systems, as well as knowledge of attitude determination and control.
  • Experience using MATLAB and Simulink to model and simulate spacecraft dynamics and control systems. (2-3 years)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to perform data analysis, optimization, and tuning of the ADCS system’s performance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and present complex technical information to stakeholders.
  • Experience writing technical documentation to a high standard (at least for 1 year)
  • Familiarity with mission operations and launch and early orbit phase (LEOP) procedures.

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of estimation and filtering techniques used in spacecraft control systems.
  • Knowledge of AIT (Assembly, Integration and Testing) processes and procedures
  • Familiarity with spacecraft hardware and components used in ADCS systems.
  • Experience with flight software development and integration.
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing (HIL).
