Our Mission Analysis department is looking for an AOCS Development Engineer. In this position, you will contribute to the development, validation, and deployment of AOCS models and algorithms, contribute to RnD activities, support commercial missions, and work closely with Software Engineering and Product Development teams to deliver reliable solutions.

As an AOCS Development Engineer, you will:

  • Develop and validate mathematical models for AOCS, including rigid-body dynamics/kinematics and basic environmental and hardware modelling
  • Conduct simulations and analyze results proficiently, including Monte Carlo simulations
  • Be involved in on-orbit commissioning activities (LEOP), contributing to anomaly resolution and validation of newly developed features
  • Produce clear and structured documentation, including technical reports and software documentation aligned with internal standards
  • Engage with clients by addressing technical queries about AOCS features and capabilities
  • Work together with AOCS and Software Development teams to produce technically sound AOCS solutions
  • Support the Software Quality Control team in AOCS models testing activities

We expect you to have:

  • Comprehensive understanding of AOCS architecture, including subsystem interactions and system-level implications
  • Experience in control theory, with practical experience in tuning existing control algorithms
  • Good understanding of attitude determination concepts, including familiarity with filtering approaches (e.g., Kalman filtering)
  • Experience in MATLAB/Simulink development, including algorithm implementation and model-based development workflows
  • Experience in simulation and analysis, including closed-loop simulations, Monte Carlo campaigns and performance assessment and interpretation
  • Proficient in the use of task management and development workflows, ensuring work is tracked and delivered on time
  • GIT knowledge and basic software management workflow
  • Autonomy in performing routine development tasks, demonstrating initiative in communication and proactive problem identification and resolution
  • Effective communication of difficult technical concepts, both internally and externally, adapting to the audience
  • Good cooperation with the team, alignment with its processes and development lifecycle

Nice to have:

  • Proficiency in C/C++ development for AOCS software implementation
  • Familiar with MATLAB/Simulink embedded coder
  • Familiar with Continuous Integration tools (e.g. Jenkins)
  • Understanding of orbit dynamics

Salary

  • Salary starts from £42 to 65K per year
  • The final offer will depend on the level of competencies and experience
